ARTIFICIAL ABSORBING MATERIALS


Absorbers are materials that attenuate the energy of the electromagnetic waves. They are extensively applied in many applications to eliminate unwanted radiation that could interfere with system’s operation. Microwave / RF absorbing materials have been used for antenna pattern shaping, radar cross section (RCS) reduction, electro-magnetic interference (EMI) reduction and improvement purpose of the in-room EM wave environment in anechoic chambers. There has been a growing interest in development of planar absorbing materials in the microwave frequency range.

EM Infinity propose periodic and planar absorbers for the microwave frequency range. The absorbers consist of resonant elements. The absorption of the power is obtained by a resistive termination connected to each receiving element in the periodic structure or by other methods developed in-house.

We propose different kinds of absorbers:

  • broadband
  • stable at all-polarization
  • stable at oblique angles
  • dual-band
  • thin (low profile)

The design is obtained by an optimization process on the parameters of the unit cell.
